Home Health Care: Not Just for The Extremely Ill

2 Areas In Your House Where Hidden Mold May Be Growing

If your home has never suffered from known water damage and you are careful about making sure your pipes are free from leaks, you may not think that mold can easily grow. However, if you or a family member has allergies or asthma and has experienced an uptick in symptoms, you may start to suspect that there is mold growing somewhere in your house.

While you may look for growth in obvious places, there may be hidden mold in your house that requires the services of a professional to find. While you cannot easily find and deal with the growth, there are a couple of areas in your house where hidden mold may be growing.

1. Walls May Be Hiding Extensive Mold Growth under the Wallpaper or in the Insulation

One area of your house where hidden may be growing abundantly is within the walls. Especially in areas where moisture is prevalent, such as the bathroom or kitchen, as well as the exterior walls, water can become trapped inside the dark spaces.

When this happens, it creates the perfect environment for the spores to sprout and flourish, and the mold may be present under the wallpaper or in the insulation. A professional service will need to use special detectors and telescopic cameras to find the mold so that it can be dealt with.

2. Carpet Fibers and Backing Exposed to Spills and Moisture May Be Harboring Hidden Mold

Another area where you may not think about mold growing is within your carpets. If the carpets have had liquids spilled on them or are near an entrance where you walk in from the rain, moisture can become trapped in the deep fibers of the carpets and backing.

Even if you are able to clean your carpets, the spores can become trapped deep inside them where they can spread underneath the backing. A professional service can verify its presence so that you do not have to pull up the carpets to see the mold, after which they can make a plan on how to get rid of the growth.

Even if you cannot easily see or find mold in your home, there may be hidden growth lurking in your walls or under your feet. If you have noticed that you or members of your household have started having unexplained respiratory symptoms, you may have mold in your home that requires a professional to find using detection techniques and equipment. Contact a business that offers mold removal services in your area to have them find the hidden growth in your home so that they can devise a plan of action to eliminate it.

About Me

Home Health Care: Not Just for The Extremely Ill

My mother passed away recently, and my father had a much more difficult time accepting her passing than we expected. He refused to talk to anyone about his feelings or allow anyone to visit to help him around the house. He soon caught the flu, and he finally agreed to allow us to have someone to help him around the house temporarily. To our surprise, the home health care aide we had help him said that while he was quiet during her first visit, he soon began chatting with her a lot and even shared his feelings about our mother! I decided to create a blog to share my story and inspire other children of parents who aren't ill, yet need a little help, to not be afraid to offer it to their parents. You may be surprised when they are actually happy to have it!
